Have you considered that the special events in your life recently may warrant a top-up of your life cover? Probably not. You've likely been too busy moving house, planning a wedding or changing nappies - in other words, getting on with life. Its worth a look at your policy to see if it allows you to top up your cover following special events, without the need for additional medical information. If youre not insured, its a good idea to look for a product which includes this feature.

As a general rule, you can increase your cover by up to 50% - without the need to provide further information for special events such as:

Having or adopting a baby
Getting married or divorced
Taking out a new home loan
Increasing an existing mortgage
Becoming responsible for the full-time care of a close relative.

There will, naturally, be an increase in your premiums for improved levels of cover, and you may need to provide evidence of the special events like those mentioned above.

There may also be limitations, such as the time periods in which you can major an increase to your cover (typically one event every year) or the amount you can increase your cover by (generally up to 50% of the original sun). An age restriction may also apply.
